Hoograven

Atmosphere and specifics

  • Until January 1954, Hoograven was part of the town Jutphaas.
  • The western part of Hoograven, Oud Hoograven, consists of long streets with pre-war houses until 1938. Characteristic are the dark red bricks and wooden floors., The southern part, Nieuw Hoograven, is mostly post-war (from 1954 until ca. 1967). Characteristic are the yellow bricks, concrete floors and the variety between two and three story terraced houses and three and four story flats, surrounded by lots of greenery.

  • Nieuw Hoograven once had the status emergency neighbourhood or local problem area. This has changed, however, with of the demolition of old and impoverished houses. Shops and modern new houses. For example, Hart van Hoograven which located houses and shops.
  • New houses are also constructed in Zuid Hoograven and construction is on-going.
